St Patrick’s Day motorist fined for speeding at 136kph on N15 road

Incident occurred just south of the Barnesmore Gap

A motorist driving on the N15 at 136kph after 11pm on St Patrick’s Day night was fined €350 at Donegal District Court for exceeding the National road speed limit of 100kph.

Sean Connolly, 45, of 37 Ashleigh Court, Castlederg, County Tyrone, was not in attendance at the hearing held at Ballyshannon Courthouse.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham heard Connolly was travelling on March 17, 2025, on the N15 at Mullanalamphy, just south of the Barnesmore Gap and was clocked speeding at 136kph.

Connolly was fined €350 by Judge Cunningham, and given five months to pay, for being in contrary to Section 47 of the Road Traffic Act 1961 (as inserted by Section 11 of the Road Traffic Act 2004) and Section 102 of the Road Traffic Act as amended by Section 18 of the Road Traffic Act 2006.
