‘Silent’ online art auction to help continue work of Buncrana photographer Harry Kerr

Buncrana's Harry Kerr, who died in 2022, was a passionate and lifelong photographer.

Artlink says it’s delighted to share a continuation of the Harry Kerr Bursary Auction.

The charity art auction held on Saturday, May 17 at Fort Dunree, was a huge success.

“Thanks to your generosity we raised €6,505 on the night, bringing us significantly closer to our €20,000 goal, which will fund four annual €5,000 bursaries for emerging photographers,” explained an Artlink spokesperson.

They added: “With so many generous donations, we couldn’t auction everything in one evening, so we’ve launched a silent online auction, open until Harry's birthday on December 2nd, 2025. You can still support the bursary and take home a beautiful piece of art.”

A silent online auction is a type of fundraiser where participants bid on items through a digital platform, instead of in person with an auctioneer.

People can buy unique artwork for their loved ones for this Christmas. The silent auction is in memory of the late photographer and friend of Artlink, Harry Kerr, with all proceeds going towards the Harry Kerr Bursary.

Meanwhile, the first bursary recipient, Danielle Macleod, an emerging photographer from the Isle of Lewis, Scotland, used the support to create a compelling new body of work, which was exhibited in June 2025 at Grinneabhat in Bragar, Lewis.

There’s still time to bid for Christmas.

“Every bid brings us closer to our goal and helps carry on the work Harry believed in so deeply,” the Artlink spokesperson added.
