Glittering array of goods and gifts in Stór for shoppers in Buncrana this Christmas!

A new artisan Christmas market, featuring some of the most talented and creative designers in the North West, is coming to Buncrana early next month.

Stór Market will take place ‘Out the Back’ of O’Flaherty’s on Buncrana’s Main Street on Saturday, December 6, from 12pm until 7pm, during which time festive hot drinks will be served under the heated marquee.

The event, which is free to enter, will feature a range of high-quality local items perfect for Christmas, including jewellery, handmade prints, ceramics and homeware, wreaths and festive decorations, clothing and accessories, gifts for men, and home decor, as well as home-baked goodies.

Confirmed vendors on the list so far include, Ah Crumbs Bakes, Bogs and Brass, Laura Buchanan Designs, Kevin Callaghan Pottery, Han* Clothing, Luxury Bespoke Decor, Nomada By Rachel, Orla Vera Accessories, and Súilí By Cara.

One of the organisers, Orla O’Hagan, explains how it’s all about encouraging people to shop local this Christmas.

“Myself and Cara Donaghey, from Súilí By Cara, another small business based in Buncrana, decided to start it this year after noticing a gap in the market for a really high-quality artisan market; a place you can go and buy a Christmas gift for everyone on your list.”

“We’re massively trying to drive home the shop local aspect of Christmas shopping. We’ve generated a lot of interest in a really short amount of time. We’ve hand-picked the best of the best in what they do, and we’re so excited to bring an exciting shopping experience to Buncrana.”

Orla is confident that the Stór Artisan Market will be a huge success, with something for everyone.

“We knew we were onto something with the overwhelming amount of applications we had from businesses wanting to have a stall.”

“Buncrana has a great reputation in the market world for supporting local makers, and we’re hoping to show our vendors from South Donegal and Derry what Buncrana is made of!” she added.

Orla promises that the Christmas music will be jingling, while there’ll be hot apple crumble and fresh custard, from Ah Crumbs, to get you in the festive mood.

“We have well-established businesses that have never showcased in Buncrana before, such as Hannah from Han* Clothing, known for her winter hats and apparel, as well as new local businesses this year, like Catherine, from Luxury Bespoke Decor, who will be doing luxury Christmas garlands and wreaths, along with many more!”

“We have something for everyone; for women, kids, and we certainly haven’t forgotten about the men.”

The organisers have also thanked Fiachra, from O’Flaherty’s, for his generous help in providing a venue for the upcoming market.
