Pettigo GAA has applied for floodlighting in submitted planning application

Pettigo GAA has applied to Donegal County Council for planning permission to erect floodlighting around its sports pitch.

The sports pitch, situated next to Scoil Mhuire (St Mary’s) National School, would see the construction of six floodlights surrounding the pitch, if Pettigo GAA are granted planning permission.

St Macartan’s Diocesan Trust, the landowners, and the Board of Management of Pettigo National School have submitted their consent to the plans, stating that they were fully supportive of them.

Pettigo GAA are fundraising to facilitate a Pitch Development Project. A campaign on idonate.com read: “This project will allow us to provide safer, modern, and more accessible facilities for training, matches, and community events – ensuring the future of Gaelic games in Pettigo for generations to come.”

The club has a men’s team that plays in the Junior Championship in Donegal. 

Donegal County Council have set a decision due date for January 23, 2026.
