Expansion sought for Malin GP Practice
Planning permission is being sought to extend a medical practice in Malin Town.
Dr Síofra Nic an Bhreithiún of Brook Medical is seeking permission for a major expansion to the existing surgery on the grounds of Kathleen Connolly Village Homes.
The extension will consist of the erection of a modular building to extend the current medical facility. The additional building, if granted permission, will include a GP's room, a nurse's treatment room, a phlebotomy lab or blood room, an admin office, and toilet facilities.
The proposed modular building on the grounds of the retirement village will be linked to the present clinic via an existing utility room, which will be converted into a waiting area for patients.
The GP practice is also seeking permission to provide an external ramped access for usage by an ambulance if the service is ever required at the surgery.

Also included in the planning application is permission for a connection to existing on-site services such as water, sewage, and electricity.
A decision by the planning authority on the extension for the doctor's surgery is due at the start of next year.
