Home Alone, a long-standing favourite, has become a Christmas tradition for many households in Donegal, with its heart-warming chaos continuing to deliver festive cheer year after year.
Nationally, Home Alone and Love Actually came out on top as Ireland’s favourite Christmas movies, with both films racking up an impressive 74,000 searches every December.
From Kevin’s Christmas carnage to the cheesy, feel-good romance of Love Actually, it’s clear Irish viewers return to consistently return to comforting, familiar watches.
Other staples like Elf, Die Hard, It’s a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street also proved hugely popular, showing that while classics are classics for a reason, Ireland still enjoys a modern pick from time to time.
Whether it's a Christmas Eve movie night or a festive film marathon, research shows that festive movies continue to play an important role in how people in Donegal celebrate the holidays.
