Safety concerns have been raised about theAn Clochán Liath bridge.

The wall, which is less than 3ft tall, offers little protection and has resulted in several individuals falling and others experiencing close calls. The bridge, which was built in 1760, is located on Dungloe Main Street.

The issue was raised with local Councillor Micheál Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig who has called for measures to be put in place.

"It's been raised with me a number of times that it would be of great benefit from a safety perspective if we, as a council, could consider putting some kind of railing here,” he said. “A number of people over the past few years have actually fallen into the river. It has also been known that people had quite near misses here.

“So, I'll raise this again with the council. I have raised it in the past - and I'll raise it again today."
