Planning submitted for fishing industry facility in Rossbeg
Donegal County Council has received a planning permission application for the development of a lobster and crab grading facility in Rossbeg.
Ross Classon, of Ainmire Ltd, has submitted the application for a development that consists of a green grading facility to help provide storage for fishing equipment, nets, pots, buoys and ropes, alongside a net repair loft and lobster and crab grading and packing station, and associated site works.
Green Grading facilities are advanced processing plants that use technology to sort lobsters and crabs efficiently by size and quality.
Supporting the application, a cover letter read: “The Green Grading facility will support the sustainable practices already incorporated into the daily operations of Ainmire Ltd.

“The proposed facility will provide for more storage of fishing equipment… in a safe working area, alongside a net repair loft and lobster and crab grading and packing station and research micro hatchery.
“The design and construction will be to high standards of insulation and renewable energy use.
“PV Solar panels will be installed.”
Donegal County Council has yet to set a decision date for the application.
