Donegal Town’s famous Hanna Hats have wished Tony Gallagher a happy retirement - after 46 years with the company.
Tony started working for Hanna Hats in August 1979 and was part of the skilled team of cutters and machinists who handcrafted the hats in the Donegal workshop, continuing the traditional hat-making techniques.
He appeared in an episode of the PBS show Ireland With Michael, where Michael London highlighted the company's centenary and Tony's long history with the business.

“It was a sad day in Hanna Hats, after 46 years with us, our Tony has retired,” Hanna Hats of Donegla posted. “Many of our customers, suppliers, and visitors to our shop and workshop will know Tony. He worked with four generations of the Hanna family: David Hanna Senior, his son John Hanna, John’s children Eleanor, Amanda Jane, and John Patrick Hanna and with Eleanor’s son Daithi.
“Tony has been a great teacher to everyone who has joined us after him - always more than happy to share all the knowledge he has gained over his time with Hanna Hats. Tony, thank you for everything. We hope you have a happy retirement and take time to enjoy it - you deserve it! - Eleanor, John Patrick, and all the team at Hanna Hats. We'll miss you so much.”
