Stranorlar man faces trial after serious road traffic incident

A Stranorlar man is to stand trial after a person was seriously injured in a road traffic incident.

Brandon Chambers appeared at Falcarragh District Court.

The 24-year-old is charged with careless driving causing serious bodily harm to another person.

It is alleged that Chambers caused harm to Winston Stewart following an incident at Navenny Street in Ballybofey.

He is charged that on February 7, 2023 Navenny Street, Ballybofey, did drive a vehicle without due care and attention thereby causing serious bodily harm to another person, namely Winston Stewart 

The charge is Contrary to section 52(1) & 52(2)(a) of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (as substituted by section 4 of the Road Traffic (No. 2) Act 2011).

Chambers, of Woodlawn, Stranorlar, did not speak during the brief hearing.

Garda Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that he had served a book of evidence on the accused.

He also outlined that the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented for the accused to go forward for trial to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court commencing on February 3, 2026.

Solicitor for the accused, Mr Patsy Gallagher, requested one counsel for his client's trial.
