The driver was caught on the outskirts of Buncrana

A driver in the Inishowen area was arrested for speeding on Tuesday night and will face a court appearance.

Buncrana Roads Policing Unit were conducting speed checks last night as part of their National Slow Down Day enforcement operation when they detected a novice driver travelling at 162kph in a speed zone of 100kph on the outskirts of Buncrana.

"Arrive alive this Christmas," An Garda Siochana warned. "Slow down."
