Several Donegal projects will receive funding through the Shared Island Civic Society Fund.
This fund supports practical North–South cooperation and engagement between grassroots community organisations across a wide range of sectors, in line with the objectives and commitments of the Good Friday Agreement.
The 2025 funding will support 64 community-based, cross-border projects across the island of Ireland. For Donegal, Cultúrlann Caisleán Ruairí, with partners An Chrannóg cultural and language centre in Gaoth Dobhair and Scoil na Crannóige – Ceoldrama na nÓg, has been allocated €50,000; and Comharchumann Forbartha Ghaoth Dobhair, with Coiste Forbartha Charn Tochair and Robert Emmetts, Slaughtneil – Ag Fás le Chéile will receive €31,000.
Accidental Theatre, with An Grianán Theatre – Shared Cultures: Northern Borders, are the recipients of €45,000; Donegal Railway Restoration CLG (Donegal Railway Heritage Museum), with Alley Arts and Cultural Centre, Strabane – Reconnecting Through Culture has received an allocation of €7,200; Dumbworld Ltd, with Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny – Film Scoring School will receive €38,945.
Furthermore, Enterprise Causeway Ltd, with Taste Causeway CIC – Shared Tables: The Donegal–Derry–Causeway Civic Alliance has been allocated €44,750; Enterprise North West Ltd, with Inishowen Development Partnership – Cross-Border Community Wealth and Resilience Project will receive €29,760; Politics in Action, involving Loreto Community School, Milford and The Royal and Prior School, Raphoe – Teaching Politics Together has been allocated €10,000 funding and Road Victim Support NI Donegal, with Donegal Youth Service – Drive to Arrive will receive €10,000.

The Shared Island Civic Society Fund will run from 2025 to 2027, with increased resourcing to support enhanced island-wide societal connection, cooperation and mutual understanding. The announcement of the allocation of the €1.92 million in funding under the 2025 round of the Shared Island Civic Society Fund forms part of a €6 million, three-year initiative.
There will now be €2 million available each year for disbursement as grant funding to eligible organisations. The maximum grant awarded to any project is €50,000 and the average grant awarded in previous rounds was just under €30,000.
