Donegal to Galway: Man undertakes 200-mile run for hospice

A man is set to run from Donegal to Galway to raise funds for Galway Hospice.

Galway-born Gary Martyn will undertake the challenge running from Malin Head to Westside, beginning on Friday, June 12.

“This journey will push me physically and mentally, covering Ireland from its most northerly point all the way home to Galway,” Gary said.

“This run is about testing limits, embracing discomfort, and proving what’s possible with discipline, consistency, and belief.  Every mile will be earned, and every step will have purpose.”

Gary has recovered after having an ACL injury last year and has been training since November.

His friend Brian Harlowe established a GoFundMe - Gary’s 200-mile run from Malin Head to Westside - to support the Galway Hospice Foundation. Gary will also document his journey through his Instagram page @garys200milerunforgh.

“I’m documenting the entire journey to raise awareness, inspire others to take on their own challenges, and give back through this fundraising effort,” he added.  “Any support — whether through donations, sharing, or words of encouragement — genuinely means more than I can put into words.

“Thank you for being part of the journey.”
