The man appeared before Letterkenny District Court
A man in his 40s is to stand trial in Donegal on 20 alleged sexual assault charges.
The man, who cannot be named at this stage of proceedings, appeared before Letterkenny District Court.
Detective Garda Donal Kelly gave evidence of arresting the man on Monday. He told the court that when charged, the accused man made no reply.
Garda Sergeant Maurice Doyle said there was no objection to bail.
The accused was ordered to remain at his current address and to sign on at Letterkenny Garda Station weekly as part of his bail conditions.
The man is charged with 20 different charges of section 2 sexual assault on dates between 2011 and 2016.
Sergeant Doyle told Judge Emile Daly that the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed trial by indictment at Letterkenny Circuit Court and also advised the court that the accused could be sent forward on a signed plea.
The accused was remanded for the preparation of a book of evidence to an adjourned date of February 23, 2026
The man's solicitor, Fr Frank Dorrian, was granted legal aid in the case.
