Ramelton man sent forward to Circuit Court on drug dealing charges

The 20-year-old man, who was before Letterkenny District Court, faces charges relating to the alleged sale and supply of a range of drugs including cannabis, cocaine and MDMA

A Ramelton man is to stand trial for the alleged sale and supply of a range of drugs including cannabis, cocaine and MDMA.

Oscar Ponsonby appeared at Letterkenny District Court.

He is charged with a range of offences at his home address at Tiroddy, Ramelton on March 24, 2024.

Garda Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented for the accused to be sent forward to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court commencing on February 3, 2026 for trial.

The 20-year-old accused faces a total of six charges.

He is accused of the possession of cannabis at Tiroddy, Ramelton on March 24th, 2024.

Ponsonby is also charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling or supplying, contrary to section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Ponsonby, who also has an address at Solomon’s Court, Letterkenny, is also charged with the possession of ketamine at the same address and date.

He is also charged with the possession of MDMA, also on the same date and at the same location.

Ponsonby is further charged with having MDMA for the purpose of sale and supply.

The accused has been charged with having cannabis for the purpose of selling, contrary to section 15A of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Garda Pauline Doherty told the court she served a book of evidence on solicitor, Mr Rory O'Brien, on behalf of his client.

Gardai said there was no objection to bail.

Mr O'Brien requested one counsel at this stage but said he will make a decision on a second counsel at a later stage.

The case was adjourned to February 3, 2026.
