Donegal County Council will apply for funding for boardwalks across the county.

The council will apply to the environmental department for funding to oversee the project's delivery across the county.  This development comes following a meeting held between Glenties MD Councillor Micheál Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig and Coiste Forbartha Mullaghdubh (Mullaghduff Development Committee).

“The one here in Mullaghderg, we had a discussion with Coiste Forbatha and the landowner -   it was a good constructive meeting,” he told DonegalLive. “We will be applying as a council to the department for funding and hopefully, we will secure it

“This is an extremely busy beach. As a local councillor, I use this beach regularly and I know how important it is. I’d like to thank Coiste Forbatha Mullachdubh for the meeting and the representative of Comhairle Contae Dhún na nGall.”

Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig has highlighted that boardwalks in Gaoth Dobhair, An Ghlaiseach, Bun An Inbhir, Port Athur and Trá Dooey need attention as well.

“It’s important that our boardwalks are maintained and kept to a high standard. That they are safe and there are no trip hazards whatsoever.”
