Gritters to take to Donegal roads as low temperatures bring  frost and ice 

All of the county’s  winter maintenance designated gritting routes are to be treated on Friday night with temperatures set to drop below freezing

All of Donegal County Council’s winter maintenance designated gritting routes are to be treated on Friday night.

The routes that will be be gritted from 8pm are: 01: National Primary North, 02: National Primary Central, 03: National Primary South, 04: Inishowen South, 05: Inishowen East, 06: Inishowen West, 07: Milford South, 08: Milford North, 09: Cill Ulta East, 10: Cill Ulta West, 11: Na Rosa, 12: Binswilly, 13: Stranorlar North, 14: Stranorlar East, 15: Stranorlar West, 16: Donegal West, 17: Donegal North, 18: Donegal South, 19: Donegal National Secondary, BT: Buncrana Town, and LT: Letterkenny Town.

Donegal County Council's interactive map can be checked for gritting routes. The council has warned road users to assume that no road is ice-free.

Met Éireann says Friday night will see clear spells with mist and fog patches developing and frost and ice forming under clear skies.

 Lowest temperatures will range from -1 to +4 degrees with light, variable or southeasterly winds.
