Niall McGinley's lifelong commitment to education, history and heritage locally has been celebrated in Letterkenny.
Niall is a retired secondary school teacher, local historian, and author in Letterkenny, celebrated for his deep knowledge and passion for the area's heritage.

He has taught at the old Technical School (now Errigal College) and has published books on Donegal history.

Joined by friend and family members, Monsignor Kevin Gillespie and local councillors, Niall was honoured with a commemorative bench in Cathedral Square for his significant contributions to local education and history, recognised by the Letterkenny Community Heritage Group and attended by community members and officials.

“I was delighted to attend the launch of this bench in the Cathedral Square in recognition of Niall Mc Ginley,” Cllr Donal Mandy Kelly posted. “A few moons ago, I had the pleasure of having Niall as one of my secondary school teachers, a real gentleman. Well done to all involved.”
