A Donegal county councillor has questioned the mindset of people who illegally dumped rubbish in the Letterkenny area.

Sinn Féin’s Gerry McMonagle made the observations on a morning walk in Kirkstown, where several refuse bags, wooden frames and other items had been thrown at the side of the road and shared the photographs of what he saw.

“Our walk up through Kirkstown forest this morning was blighted by the inconsiderate people who dump rubbish illegally, especially at our areas of outstanding beauty,” he posted. “What possesses them to think this is ok?

“I mean, all of the stuff I saw dumped this morning is recyclable. It would have been easier to take this rubbish to our recycling centre than dump it at this beauty spot. Shame on you.”
