Letterkenny and District Pipe Band host their version of Burns Night on Saturday, January 24, in Conwal Parish Hall, Letterkenny, with doors open from 7pm.

They will not have a lavish banquet, nor will the whisky be flowing but they will have a lovely stew with neaps and tatties and of course, haggis. There’s a lively programme of music, song, dance and a bit of comedy set to make it another enjoyable night.

Each year, the band hosts a very popular show, and people who come once often keep coming back for more. The money raised on the night goes to keeping the band on the road for another year as they travel north and south, as well as to Scotland to compete in competitions during the summer.

“The senior band members teach the young people involved to play bagpipes and drums,” event organisers have said. “We have the traditional toast to the haggis, with a dram of orange and one of our younger pipers pipes in the haggis, and another member recites the Selkirk Grace, before the meal is served.

“The night finishes with Auld Lang Syne. If you would like to see the talent of these people, as well as other local talents, please come along for a night that promises to be entertaining and very family-oriented. Find us on Facebook for tickets priced at €15. These can be purchased on eventbrite, or by contacting Gemma on 0861958926 or contact any other band member.”
