Senator seeks clarity on timeline for Carrigart-Downings Walkway

A Senator has sought clarity on the timeline for the completion of the Carrigart-Downings Walkway.

Fine Gael Senator Manus Boyle asked for an update from the Department of Transport regarding the funding allocation, project progress and timeline for the remaining section.

Donegal County Council intends to carry out an Outdoor Recreational Infrastructure Scheme along a 2.5km stretch of the existing R248 regional road to provide a 2.5m shared footpath for pedestrians and cyclists.

“This is an incredibly important piece of infrastructure for the community,” Senator Boyle said. “It provides a safe walking route for residents, families, schoolchildren, and visitors along what is both a busy and scenic stretch of road.

“The development of this path has already made a meaningful difference to safety and accessibility in the area and has been widely welcomed by all.”
