Donegal Cancer Flights & Services members as well as Donegal TDs in support of the midday service between Donegal and Dublin
Minister for Transport, Darragh O’Brien TD, will meet with Donegal Cancer Flights & Services, later today.
The meeting will take place at 1:15pm in Dáil Éireann. The group are hoping to have the PSO (Public Service Obligation) contract changed, which cut the afternoon flight service between Donegal and Dublin, operated by Emerald Airlines.
The PSO contract is a government-funded agreement with operators to provide essential, non-commercially viable transport services that offer patients in Donegal access to treatment, in this case in Dublin.
The new terms of the airline contract have sparked significant backlash, with the traditional midday service being removed. Instead, the schedule will shift to an early 6:30am flight from Dublin and an 8:30pm return from Donegal. A petition started earlier this month has now surpassed 20,000 signatories to maintain the existing service, which caters for over 500 patients.

"Tomorrow, we walk into Dáil Éireann carrying the voices of Donegal," Donegal Cancer Flights & Services said last night.
Over 20,000 signatures. Real patient stories. Real cancellations. Real consequences. This is not a political campaign. It is a medical access campaign.
"We will meet the Minister for Transport, Darragh O'Brien TD, with one clear message: A Public Service Obligation must guarantee reliable same-day access for cancer patients. The midday flight must be protected. Aircraft reliability must be strengthened. Medical access must be guaranteed. This route is not a luxury. It is a lifeline. Tomorrow, we speak calmly.
We speak clearly. And we speak for Donegal."
