Transition Year students from Deele College and the Royal and Prior Comprehensive School in Raphoe are getting ready to perform their sold-out musical.

The Back To The 80’s musical takes to the stage in The Balor Arts Centre in Ballybofey from March 4-6. Final rehearsals have been taking place with hairspray and colourful eyeshadow aplenty.

The show is described as “a feel-good musical set in 1980s USA. Now in his 30s, Corey Palmer looks back on his senior year at William Ocean High School.

“Seventeen-year-old Corey is hopelessly in love with his cool neighbour, Tiffany Houston, who only has eyes for popular jock Michael Feldman. When Michael steals Corey’s ideas to win the class presidency - with Tiffany as his vice - Corey is left on the sidelines. Meanwhile, new students arrive, including twin cheerleaders Mel and Kim Easton, and shy Eileen Reagan, who becomes the target of Michael’s cruel pranks. Even the teachers face drama, as Mr Cocker uncovers a shocking secret about his girlfriend, Miss Brannigan.

“The show follows friendship, first love, bullying, and growing up, all leading to the big questions: will Corey get the girl, will prom night succeed, will Eileen find friends, and will Michael be exposed?

“Packed with iconic 80s hits like Footloose, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Material Girl, Kids in America, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Video Killed the Radio Star and many more, Back to the 80’s is an energetic, nostalgic musical guaranteed to leave audiences smiling, singing, and reminiscing.”

Back to the 80’s will begin at 8pm each night and will finish at 10:15pm. Tickets are sold out, however you can contact The Balor to be placed on the waiting list.
