The late Brighton Mafuta
There is deep sadness across Donegal following the death of a man in a road traffic collision on the A5 road in Co Tyrone.
Brighton Mafuta was killed in a crash on Monday night in the area of Garvaghy, between Omagh and Ballygawley.
The collision between a white Audi A6 and a silver Nissan Micra occurred at around 10.15pm. Mr Mafuta, the driver of the Nissan Micra, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr Mafuta is a former player of Donegal Town FC and the club paid tribute to a man who played in their title-winning team of 2013.
“He showed great dedication, travelling afar to play despite not living nearby anymore,” Donegal Town FC said.
“He had an infectious personality and got on fantastically with everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.
“A skilful footballer and a fantastic teammate, Brighton will be sorely missed by everyone at DTFC.”
Management and staff at Snugborough in Letterkenny, where he worked, said Mr Mafuta was “incredible, funny, loyal, hardworking chef and friend.”

“An unforgettable colleague to everyone who worked with him,” Snugborough said. “James and Jacqui and all of his Snugborough family offer our condolences to all of his family and friends at this sad time.”
Mr Mafuta is the 58th person to die on the A5 since 2006.
