Preparations are well underway at Fr Tierney Park ahead of Donegal’s National Football League Division 1 fixture against Galway on Sunday.

The side managed by Jim McGuinness are making its second appearance at the Ballyshannon venue - the home of Aodh Ruadh - this season, having defeated Kerry 1-22 to 1-18 earlier this month in front of 9,000 supporters.

“I enjoyed the game in many ways,” Kerry manager Jack O’Connor said that day. Great venue, 9,000 people, nice day, good surface, good battle. I didn’t enjoy the result but I enjoyed the game.”

Donegal are now four from four in the top-flight and within touching distance of a Division 1 final in the competition, which would be their first since their sole success back in 2007.

Gavin Mulreany saved a late penalty from Oisin Conaty on Sunday last as Donegal overcame Armagh 1-12 to 0-19 at the Athletic Grounds and they have also defeated Dublin and Mayo this term.

Galway will be making their third visit to the Erneside town, having lost 2-8 to 1-10 back in 1986 and then coming away with the points in 2002, winning 0-9 to 0-7.

Galway have three points thus far this term, having beaten Armagh, drawn with Kerry and lost to Mayo and Roscommon. Last time out, Padraig Joyce’s team led 0-19 to 0-6 early in the second half before Roscommon came back to win 2-16 to 0-21 in trying conditions in Salthill.
