"His dedication to his family’s badminton journey is well-known," the club said. "Sammy travelled the length and breadth of Ireland, bringing his children to training sessions and competitions, giving them every opportunity to develop and succeed. His commitment and sacrifice played a huge role in their journey to the very highest level, including representing Ireland on the Olympic stage, an incredible achievement for the Magee family and a source of immense pride for Raphoe.

"But Sammy’s contribution didn’t stop there. He has remained deeply involved in the club, always willing to lend a hand, look after the hall, and ensure everything runs smoothly. His quiet work behind the scenes has helped sustain and strengthen Raphoe Badminton Club for generations of players.

"Sammy’s dedication and love for the sport embody everything good about our club and our badminton community.
