Donegal confirm their 2026 joint-captains and have a new face in team for Monaghan

Michael Langan and Shane O'Donnell are Donegal's joint captains for 2026

Donegal have named their team to take on Monaghan in the last series of fixtures in the National Football League Division 1, with Sean Martin in from the off.

The MacCumhaill's clubman, who is named at wing-back, was captain of the Donegal U-20 team for the 2025 season, where they reached the Ulster final before losing to eventual all-Ireland champions Tyrone in extra-time.

Donegal have also named their joint-captains for the season, with Michael Langan and Shane O'Donnell the ones honoured.

Donegal know a win at St Tiernach's Park will seal a place in the Division 1 final, where they will be joined by All-Ireland champions Kerry, should they defeat Armagh away. If the Kingdom don't, it will open the door for either Mayo or Roscommon, who meet in Castlebar. Dublin also travel to Galway, with all four games being played simultaneously from 3:30pm

Donegal: Gavin Mulreany; Caolan McColgan, Brendan McCole, Mark Curran; Eoghan Bán Gallagher, Caolan McGonagle, Sean Martin; Hugh McFadden, Michael Langan; Paul O’Hare, Shane O’ Donnell, Peadar Mogan; Conor O’ Donnell, Jason McGee, Shea Malone.

Substitutes: Pádraig Mac Giolla Bhríde; Cormac Gallagher; Oisin Caulfield; Ryan McHugh; Seanan Carr; Finnbarr Roarty; 22 Stephen McMenamin; Jamie Brennan; Eoin McHugh; Kevin Muldoon; Max Campbell.
