Kilmacrennan Health Centre
The HSE has confirmed that Kilmacrennan Health Centre will be sold as it is ‘no longer suitable’ for the provision of healthcare.
The planned sale was revealed in an answer to a query from Councillor Declan Meehan at today's meeting of the Regional Health Forum. He was also informed the HSE will, shortly, seek expressions of interest for a new Primary Health Centre for the area.
Councillor Meehan also queried if there is a possibility the old building can be refurbished and used for clinics for the primary care team.
However, he was informed by Dermot Monaghan, the HSE’s Integrated Health Area Manager, that the centre is deemed to be no longer suitable for the provision of healthcare services.
Therefore, it has been included in the list of the HSE’s assets which are identified for disposal. He also said the primary care clinical needs for the population of the area have been included in an overall business case submitted for approval under the Strategic Healthcare Investment Framework (SHIF).
Subject to SHIF approval, expressions of interest are expected to be issued to the market for the provision of an appropriate healthcare facility to meet the needs of the people in the Kilmacrennan and Milford areas. The proposed facility would also include an Older Persons Day Centre for the area.

Mr Niall Colleary, of the HSE’s Capital and Estates section, said they hoped to bring the old health centre to the market within the next month.
