Warehouse to be built for new hardware store at Ballybofey's former TSA Centre
The construction of a large warehouse and accessible storage yard in Ballybofey has been granted conditional planning permission by Donegal County Council.
Glenside Stores Ltd, the listed applicant, successfully submitted proposals to be located off the N15, for the construction of a warehouse and store ancillary to an existing retail and commercial premises located on site, and the development of an accessible storage yard which includes vehicle turning and parking provision.
The commercial premise in question is the former TSA Centre, situated adjacent to the former Barnes View Fuel Station, for which, in February, Glenside Stores Ltd was granted conditional planning approval to be converted to a new hardware store.
In June 2025, the site was sold by the Maguire family, who had been running the filling station and tyre business for approximately 45 years.
A cover letter statement by McCullough Architecture and Surveying Ltd, on behalf of the applicant, said: “The purpose of this warehouse and store is for bulky goods such as timber or larger items which would not be placed in the main commercial unit.

“Members of the public shall not have access to this storage space, but rather the staff. The separate building also allows the company vehicles to load and unload goods under cover, and suitable parking and turning, which does not impact on customer parking or turning movements.”
Donegal County Council granted the application planning permission with ten conditions, including a condition that the applicant or beneficiary of the permission should pay a contribution of €3,181.75 in respect of public infrastructure and facilities benefiting development in the area of the Planning Authority that is already provided or is intended to be provided by the Authority.
