The new accessible toilets and Changing Places facility at Letterkenny Retail Park
The new Changing Places and accessible toilets block at Letterkenny Retail Park will be open to the public soon.
The official opening will take place on Friday, April 17, with Minister of State with responsibility for Disability, Emer Higgins, in attendance.
Fine Gael Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh said: “Thanks to Trudi O’Reilly, Access Officer Donegal County Council for the huge volume of work she has done to get this project over the line. With delays caused by the Retail Park changing hands and also some technical issues at the site, despite the issues Trudi persevered to ensure the project was completed.”
The changing places unit at the facility will be accessible via a radar key, these keys will be available to purchase (€5) at various locations around the county. For example, the IWA, DCIL and Cairde Le Cheile at the Vestry in Letterkenny will have keys available.
There will also be other locations in town and around the county, when a full list of locations has been compiled, the council will publish that list. There will also be a number for people to call at the retail park, should they need access and not have a key.

The accessible toilet units at the site will be open to the public during the opening hours of the retail park, one of those units will have baby changing facilities and both will be for unisex use.
The development at the retail park is very welcome and has been on the agenda going back to the days of the Town council, so it’s great to now eventually have a facility that can serve disabled persons, a changing places facility for those who need it and a facility for the general public also.
