Barnesmore Gap
A County Derry man has been fined €320 for a speeding offence after driving at a speed of 124kph near the Barnesmore Gap.
Eoin Dooey, 24, of Manor Court, Kilrea, Coleraine appeared at Donegal District Court at Ballyshannon Courthouse. Judge Éiteáin Cunningham gave him four months to pay the €320 fine.
He pleaded guilty of driving a vehicle exceeding the National Road Speed Limit of 100kph on September 6, 2025 on the N15 at Keadew Lower, Donegal, contrary to Section 47 of the Road Traffic Act 1961 (as inserted by Section 11 of the Road Traffic Act 2004) and Section 102 of the Road Traffic Act 1961 (as amended by Section 18 of the Road Traffic Act 2006).

Dooey told Judge Cunningham that he had tried to pay the speeding ticket online.
Judge Cunningham said: “The very best I can do for you is to convict and fine €320 and give four months to pay. That was what you would have paid.”
