Donegal Town woman with previous convictions fined for parking offence

Motorist fined for further conviction of failing to display a valid parking ticket

A Donegal Town resident with three previous parking offence convictions has been fined a total of €288 in fines and costs, for parking without a valid parking ticket.

Habiba Arinoro, 37 Orchard Drive, Donegal Town, was found to be the owner of a motor vehicle on September 17, 2025, at Tirchonaill Street, Donegal Town, parked in a parking place without displaying a valid parking ticket in the manner required by Article 7(1) of the Donegal County Council (Parking Places) Bye-Laws, 2004, being contrary to Article 7(1)(f) of the said Bye-Laws and Section 36(8) of the Road Traffic Act 1994.

The defendant was not present at Donegal District Court at Ballyshannon Courthouse, and Judge Éiteáin Cunningham was satisfied to proceed in his absence.

Judge Cunningham heard that the defendant had three prior convictions for parking offences, and fined Ms Arinoro €150 plus the costs of €138. 

The previous convictions, which had been dealt with in Donegal District Court by Judge Cunningham in February, also involved parking offences at Tirchonaill Street in June, July, and August 2025. Ms Arinoro was fined a combined €330 and costs of €414 for those offences. 

Ms Arinoro was given four months to pay the fine and ordered costs by Judge Cunningham.
