The north-west of Donegal is getting the worst of the effects of Storm Dave, although a local councillor said he has learned that fire services will only call out “if there’s a risk to life.”
Cllr Michael McClafferty has posted warnings about the condition of the roads, which have become flooded, in the likes of Creeslough, Dunfanaghy, as well as Falcarragh and Ballyconnell, where cars were stuck earlier.

“I’ve phoned 999 for the Fire Brigade this evening for another situation of flooding for pumps sand bags etc,” he said of Dunfanaghy. “It was refused as the Fire service will only be allowed out now if there’s a risk to life I’ve been told
“Please avoid the N56 at Ballyconnell, Falcarragh due to severe flooding. Several cars are currently stuck. There is a flooding issue in Creeslough at the Drimnacarry Bridge. Be careful as it is getting deeper.”
