Daniel and Majella on their wedding day, November 4, 2002, at St Mary's Church, Kincasslagh
Daniel O’Donnell and his wife, Majella, will present an exhibition in Kildare.
The exhibition will be held at the Museum of Style Icons at Newbridge Silverware on Wednesday, April 22, at 11am. Newbridge Silverware will make a special donation to ‘Gemma’s Legacy of Hope’, a mental health charity based in Dungloe, as it is close to Majella’s heart.
The free-to-enter exhibition, titled ‘Titled Daniel & Majella O’Donnell – Music, Style & Memories’, offers a look into their personal lives, showcasing Daniel’s music, career, and distinctive stage style. The carefully chosen display will feature stage costumes, personal mementos, and even the couple's wedding outfits.
Majella’s beautiful wedding dress, her tiara, and Daniel’s three-piece suit and wedding shoes will be on display to give guests a peek into one of their most significant memories.
A selection of Daniel’s stage costumes will be featured, including a pair of leather cowboy boots, a leather jacket, and trousers that Daniel wore on stage, along with some of his striking stage coats.
A dress designed by Julien Macdonald and worn by Majella at her daughter’s wedding will also be showcased. The display further includes framed gold discs in recognition of Daniel’s many records sold, alongside his very special framed Honorary MBE.
Among the items on display is the ‘big red book’, which is the original book that was presented to Daniel by TV presenter Michael Aspel in 2000 for an episode of ‘This is Your Life’ on BBC.A very special item of clothing, a Fair Isle Aran jumper that was knitted by Daniel's mother, Julia, will be an emotional feature of the exhibit. Daniel recorded his debut song, "My Donegal Shore," wearing that jumper. The knitted jumper brings back fond memories of his mother and the beginning of his musical career.
Daniel and Majella will even be present to meet fans in the Showroom at Newbridge Silverware from 11am to 12:30pm on the day.

Daniel said he felt deeply honoured to see his career celebrated this way. “It’s a great privilege to have this exhibition at the Museum of Style Icons at Newbridge Silverware.
“Many of the outfits and items in the exhibition hold very special memories for me, so it’s lovely to see them brought together in one place. I’m delighted that fans will have the chance to visit and hopefully enjoy looking back at some of those moments with us.”
Newbridge Silverware’s CEO, William Doyle, is delighted that the O’Donnell’s were bringing a very personal collection to the museum.
“The generosity of the O’Donnell’s is extraordinary; they both give so much to their fans and to their communities without a thought for themselves.” The CEO said. “We want to thank them both for their time, for lending us their special garments and for agreeing to meet their many fans here in Newbridge.”
Majella O’Donnell believes that the exhibition will be a wonderful opportunity to share some personal memories with Daniel’s fans.
“It’s very special that people will get to see some of the items that mean so much to us, particularly our wedding outfits,” she said. “They bring back wonderful memories, and it’s also nice for the fans that have supported Daniel over the years to see some of the memories they would have been part of. We’re both really looking forward to meeting everyone and spending some time together on the day.”
