Buncrana community urged to join National Spring Clean effort

The Stunning Mill River Walk is to get a spring clean

Residents of Buncrana are being called on to roll up their sleeves and take part in this year’s National Spring Clean, as a local clean-up event promises to make a meaningful impact both locally and globally.

Organised in partnership with the Mill River Conservation Group and supported by An Taisce, the event will take place on Saturday, 25th April, from 12:00pm to 2:30pm. Set against the scenic backdrop of Buncrana’s waterways, the initiative aims to protect the environment “from source to sea,” highlighting how small local actions contribute to a healthier global ecosystem.

Participants will gather at the Buncrana GAA Club, located on the Railway Road. All necessary equipment, including bags, gloves, and litter pickers, will be provided on the day, and refreshments will also be available for volunteers taking part.

The Buncrana clean-up forms part of a nationwide campaign that sees communities across Ireland unite to tackle litter and environmental degradation. By joining, volunteers will be contributing to a wider international movement focused on sustainability and conservation.

Organisers emphasise that participation is flexible, whether individuals can spare just an hour or stay for the full event, as every effort makes a real difference.
