An Garda Síochána wished Jim Connolly the best on his retirement following 33 years of distinguished service to the community.
Friends, colleagues and members of the local community gathered on Thursday in Mountcharles to wish Jim a long and well-deserved retirement, where he was joined by his wife Helen and son James.
“Thank you to Sergeant Oliver Devaney for organising the special farewell evening,” An Garda Siochana posted.

“We wish Jim all the very best in the future and we hope that he and his family have good health and happiness in the years ahead! Don't be a stranger Jim! Happy retirement!”
The Mayor of Donegal Town, Anna Gallagher, was also in attendance at Jimmy's Tavern.
“A lovely evening in Mountcharles celebrating Jim Connolly's retirement from An Garda Síochána,” she posted. “As Mayor, I want to thank Jim for all his years of dedicated service and for the kindness, reassurance and friendship he showed to so many across the parish of Inver and Donegal Town area. Wishing Jim and his family every happiness in the years ahead.”
