State of a South Donegal road tarmac criticised as ‘like glass’

Cllr Michael Boyle spoke on Frosses-Drimarone road

The state of a South Donegal road was criticised by a Donegal County Councillor at April’s Donegal Municipal District meeting.  

Councillor Michael Boyle spoke at the meeting and questioned the Area Manager for Roads and Transportation, Mark Sweeney, about the road from Frosses to Drimarone near the Bluestack Centre. 

“There have been two accidents on it,” stated Cllr Boyle. “On Easter Saturday, there has been a very serious accident on it.

“There is a problem with the tarmac. In the last couple of years on the roads, all the chips have been going on them. It is like glass on the best day of the week.”

In response, Sweeney answered: “That is the result of material fatting up. We spotted that to address this year, and these roads will be addressed this year. It is on the programme to get done this year.”
