BakeRona’s Annual Easter Treasure Hunt raised €1,725 for Hughie’s Corner in Carndonagh.
There was a real sense of celebration in Moville this Easter as BakeRona’s Annual Easter Treasure Hunt proved to be a resounding success, raising an impressive €1,725 for Hughie’s Corner in Carndonagh.
The much-loved community event brought together families from across Inishowen, with 27 enthusiastic teams taking part in an afternoon filled with fun, laughter, and adventure. Children followed clues scattered throughout Moville Green, all in the hope of winning prizes and enjoying a few sweet treats along the way.
Adding to the excitement, a special guest appearance from the Easter Bunny delighted younger participants, helping to create a lively and memorable day for all involved.
Event organiser and BakeRona owner, Rona McDonald, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the community for their support. She thanked everyone who took part, donated, shared the event, and helped make the day such a success.
“This wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of our community. I’m so grateful to everyone.”
Proceeds from the event were donated to Hughie’s Corner, a vital, community-funded counselling service based in Carndonagh that supports young people aged 5 to 18 across Donegal.
Hughie’s Corner was set up in memory of Hughie Doherty and offers a safe, supportive space for children and teenagers who may be struggling with anxiety, grief, trauma, or other challenges. The service is completely funded by the local community and relies heavily on donations and fundraising efforts to continue its work.

Following the event, in recent days, Rona McDonald officially presented the cheque to Kathleen from Hughie’s Corner, marking a meaningful contribution to a service that continues to make a difference in the lives of local families.
The Easter Treasure Hunt has become a highlight in the local calendar, building on previous editions which have supported St. Vincent de Paul in Moville, MND in honour of Adrian Harkin, and the Stroke Unit in Letterkenny University Hospital.
