Donegal secondary school issues warning over text message scam

The school has confirmed in a statement that the messages are “entirely fake” and did not orientate from Deele College, while advice has been issued to parents and guardians

A Donegal secondary school has warned that fraudulent messages are circulating claiming to be sent from the school.

Bosses at Deele College in Raphoe have been made aware of the text message scam in recent days.

The school has confirmed in a statement that the messages are “entirely fake” and did not orientate from Deele College.

The school has issued advice to parents and guardians of pupils.

They said: “If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from Deele College, please follow these steps to protect your information: Do not click on any links contained within the message; Do not reply to the sender; Do not share any personal, financial, or student information; Delete the message immediately.”

Deele College advise that anyone with concerns can contact the school to verify if a message is genuine or not.
