Gerry Gillespie celebrates 90th birthday

The Glen Head Tavern in Glencolmcille hosted the 90th birthday party on Saturday, April 18, for one of the local area’s longest-standing community activists.

Gerry Gillespie celebrated his birthday, which had occurred two days prior, with friends and family aplenty.

Guests had come to honour a former recipient of the 2005 Donegal People of the Year Awards.

Attendee, Sharon Burke, said: “We had a full pub of family and friends, who travelled from all over. Wexford, Galway, all over Donegal, and London.

“Speeches were made by some organisations that Gerry has been involved in over the years, and presentations were made. Gerry gave a wonderful speech.”
