Burt Castle
The castle itself was built in the 1500s and overlooks the Swilly and Inch Island. It was held by Cahir O'Doherty who pledged allegiance to the crown in order to break free of the rule of Red Hugh O'Donnell, then after being betrayed by the English started his own 'O'Dohertys Rebellion' with the burning of Derry in 1608 before being killed in the Battle of Kilmacrennan later that year
