Dunlewey Church
The church was built by Jane Smith Russell in 1853 as a memorial to her husband James who died in 1848 and was the landlord of Dunlewey and the Poisoned Glen. I had to look up the reason it was called the Poisoned Glen (Cró Nimhe) and seems like there are a few theories. Some say its a mistranslation and the correct name should be 'Heavenly Glen', with the Irish for heaven being 'neamh' and the Irish for poison being 'neimhe'. Another reason is said to be due to highly toxic spurge moss which poisoned the drinking water but has since become extinct
