Cars were stranded outside Glenveagh National Park and in parts of Inishowen as a result of Storm Eunice this morning.
A motorist managed to get through to Highland Radio to highlight the situation.
Councillor Michael McClafferty took to social media to try and get those stranded help.
Speaking after the event, Cllr McClafferty said that these situations highlight why better coverage is needed across the county.
He said that should an accident have happened the same situation would have folded.
"Where there is a will there is a way. People use this road a lot. If something happens these people have to depend on the goodwill of other motorists. It is just not good enough in this day and age. When situations like these arise, time is of the essence," he said.
He said that accidents do occur on this stretch of road and the situation as it stands 'is just not good enough.'
"There is no coverage at all on a huge part of this busy road - on the safety end of matters this is serious with technology in this day and age - you would think something could be sorted. If there is the will - I am sure there is a way."
