Anglers from near and far gathered to partake in the event which was organised by Jarlath Winters, fishery manager of the Glenmore Estate. He said the good weather matched the good mood of all present.
He thanked Sliabh Liag distillery for providing the Silkie Whiskey for the ceremony and his nephew Thomas Winters for piping the group to the river.

"Thanks also to all those who made the effort to come along, and finally thanks to Ross Corrigan for making the first cast of the season. No word on any fish yet but hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to see a few springers arrive," he said.
