Two cars damaged in hit and run incidents in Lifford

Two cars were damaged in the Lifford area last night (Sunday) when a white BMW allegedly struck both at different locations.

One driver was rear-ended on the main road outside the Applegreen Petrol Station (above) on the Letterkenny Road while another driver was also hit from behind a short distance further out the road.

An eyewitness recalled what happened.

"I was there last night, heard the screech of brakes, and a thud out on the main road. Then a fella comes banging on the window of the shop saying there's been a hit and run. His Audi A4 was damaged at the back end.

"I phoned the gardaí on his behalf.

"A few minutes later a customer said that a damaged BMW was abandoned just over the border in Strabane at Modern Tyres in the middle of the road.

"When I put the post up on Facebook, a wee girl privately messaged me. She also had been rear-ended by the same BMW at the bad bends near the White Cross," he said

It is understood that the PSN recovered the damaged BMW  at about 3pm on Monday afternoon.

Gardaí confirmed this evening that they have no report in their system about this incident.
