Packie’s Climb in Memory of Maura is taking place in glorious sunshine
A charity climb up Errigal has to date raised more than €5,000 for two causes.
Packie’s Climb in Memory of Maura is taking place from noon today in glorious sunshine.
The walk is fundraising for An Halla Mor, Dungloe and the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.
The fundraising campaign has already passed it’s €5,000 target.
An Halla Mor, Dungloe
Funds raised are to go towards the revamp of An Halla Mor, Dungloe. The Parochial Hall, Dungloe, or, the Big Hall, as it was more affectionately known, and now known as An Halla Mor, served the people of Dungloe and surrounding areas for the most part of the 20th century.
Built in around 1913, it has been used as a parish and community venue for various social, cultural, recreational and historical events.
The hall has fallen into disrepair and a group of local people have come together to try and revamp the hall and bring it back to its former glory.
The fundraising is to be shared with the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association
Which is the only organisation of its kind in the country providing specialised services to families affected by this terminal condition.
Donations can be made up until April 22 by going to the idonate page.
