Letterkenny Busking Festival to return to the streets next month

The Letterkenny Busking Festival has been an annual favourite amongst the town’s performers, residents, and businesses since it was first held in 2015

The Letterkenny Busking Festival will return to Letterkenny’s Main Street on July 30.

Each year the annual competition sees all types of performers, battling it out to win cash prizes.

Performers and groups of all ages, sizes and talents are welcome to take part.

The event has been an annual favourite amongst the town’s performers, residents, and businesses since it was first held in 2015. Each participant or group that takes part in the competition will be in with a chance of winning prizes from the €1,000 prize fund.

“We’re delighted to announce the festival date this year”, said Kristine Reynolds, president of Letterkenny Chamber, which is organising the festival through its ShopLK Brand.

“Last year’s was a huge success even though there were some restrictions so this year we aim to make it even bigger and better. The busking festival brings entertainment, music and fun to the streets for the day. It complements the other festivals such as the Blues & Roots and makes Letterkenny attractive to visitors and local people. We know there will be tight competition for the top spot and the big winnings.”

Jimmy Stafford, who chairs the festival committee said: “We are looking out for any entertainers from any genre to take part in the festival. In the past, we’ve had dancers and magicians alongside all the music. The competition is open to all ages with great prizes on offer. But it’s also an opportunity to busk to all the people who come along for the day, have some fun and fill the Main Street area music.”
