Abbey Vocational School (AVS), Donegal Town Principal, Geraldine Diver has expressed her delight that the school has received confirmation that their next phase of building development at the popular south Donegal ETB school can now proceed to tender stage.

She told donegallive.ie: "This is the second development in the project phase, which will be a dining hall. It will be of enormous benefit in terms of additional space for the school and being used for extra curricular activity.

"We will also have an additional classroom area for students with moderate additional needs. It is particularly welcome on the back of us just opening our new classrooms and two ASD suites."

This new phase will include a 260sqm General Purpose Room (Dining Hall) and Principal Diver hopes that the work can be completed within a year of turning the sod on this next phase.

The Dining Hall will connect the existing Sports Hall to the main school building which will provide a much better environment for our students.

This phase also includes a new support classroom for students with Moderate General Learning Difficulties.

This classroom, combined with our recently opened support suite for students with Autism continues to enhance the support that we are providing to all members of our school community.
