Gardaí say deteriorating conditions at Lough Salt mean road closure is possible

An Garda Síochána have issued a warning into the treacherous state of the roads in the Kilmacrennan and Milford area.

Lough Salt is particularly dangerous with motorists having issues as the temperature has dropped and road closures are a possibility.

"The roads around Kilmacrennan and Milford are in a dangerous condition due to the drop in temperature," An Garda Síochána  say. "A number of cars are stuck on the Lough Salt road and efforts are being made to assist all involved at present. The Council are en route and the road may be closed for an unknown period of time in the interest of public safety when all cars have been removed. Please avoid the area if possible. Take care if you must venture out on the roads tonight or early tomorrow morning."
