A Mícheál Ó Cléirigh Summer School committee meeting back in 2014
Plans are afoot for a special Mícheál Ó Cléirigh Summer School next May as it celebrates its tenth anniversary in Rossnowlagh.
The Mícheál Ó Cléirigh Summer School Committee held its first meeting since the AGM on Wednesday evening to plan for the 10 th Mícheál Ó Cléirigh Summer School which will take place over the weekend of Friday, May 5 until Sunday, May 7
2023 in Rossnowlagh.
The 10th anniversary Summer School theme, Feast – Food – Famine / Féasta – Bia – Ganntanas, will explore the hardships of day-to-day life in late and post medieval Ireland in the period from 1500 onwards where seasons good or bad could determine
the life expectancy of men, women and children.
The south Donegal based summer school is an important event that contributes to the strong cultural heritage character of the area.
It combines history lectures, conversations and discussion with art and writing competitions, cultural tours and
activities.
The event has established a reputation for examining our history from a range of perspectives and how it influences our lives today.
The 10th anniversary programme will be available in early 2023.
